Honest Wipes vs Water Wipes (Tested & Compared)

Published: June 25, 2024 | Updated: June 25, 2024 | Corinne Segura, Building Biologist

I’m comparing Honest Clean Conscious Wipes which are 99% water (unscented), Water Wipes which are 99.9% water (unscented), and Dyper Newborn wipes which are also 99.9% water (also unscented).

I am comparing them on ingredient safety, effectiveness, and price.

Conclusion:

Choose Honest Clean Conscious Wipes, 99% water, for the most effective wipe and all-around safe choice with all EWG 1, and 2 rated ingredients – also, the best value for your money.

Choose Dyper Newborn Wipes for a purer choice since it has 99.9% water and the same number of EWG 2 rated ingredients. It has a slightly higher price per wipe but it’s not a huge difference.

Stress test

Honest Wipes – almost impossible to rip, 5/5

Water Wipes – fairly easy to rip when pulled, though not going to rip in normal use, 3/5

Dyper Wipes – fairly easy to rip when pulled, though not going to rip in normal use, 3/5

Effectiveness

Honest Wipes – has enough of a texture and is a good size, it’s thicker than the other two. It’s the only one on the list with a surfactant so it can clean better. Overall effectiveness, 5/5

Water Wipes – no texture, an inch smaller than the others which definitely is related to effectiveness, ever so slightly thinner than Dyper, and definitely thinner than Honest. No surfactant. Overall effectiveness, 3/5

Dyper Wipes – has no texture though it is a good size (same size as Honest). Texture affects effectiveness. No surfactant. Overall effectiveness, 4/5

Overall ingredient safety rating:

Dyper Newborn Wipes come out on top even though they and Honest both have two ingredients with a 2 rating on EWG, Dyper has more water content, 99.9% compared to 99% making them purer. Water Wipes have an ingredient that is EWG 6 which some consumers are concerned about but this is only a small fraction of the 1%.

Price

Honest Wipes – if you buy in bulk (720 count) they can be as low as 0.06 cents per wipe* without the subscribe discount.

Water Wipes – depending on which store you buy them, they can be as low as 0.06 cents per wipe as well (720 count) but the wipes are smaller so you may need more.

Dyper Wipes – in the largest bulk option they are 0.08 cents a wipe*.

Overall Top Picks

Choose Honest Clean Conscious Wipes 99% water for the most effective wipe and all-around safe choice with all EWG 1, and 2 rated ingredients, also the best value for your money.

Choose Dyper Newborn Wipes for a purer choice since it has 99.9% water and the same number of EWG 2 rated ingredients. It has a slightly higher price per wipe but it’s not a huge difference.
